2026 September NL: Council Minutes

Present: Pastor Chris Byars, Bill Block, Betty Jane Baranczyk, Miles Winkler, Nathaniel Byars.
Guest: Rachel Knueppel.

1. Meeting called to order at 7:00pm by Miles
2. Devotions: Nathaniel Byars
3. Motion to approve Agenda by Betty Jane. Second by Bill. Carried.
4. Communications from attendees and correspondence.
   1. Rachel Knueppel: updates on Sunday school, VBS, and first day of school.
   2. Thanks, from WRVM for mission gift of $510.00, Thanks from Tartu Academy of Theology for donation of $1630.
5. Motion to approve secretary’s Report with minor changes by Betty Jane. Second by Bill. Carried
6. Motion to approve Treasurer’s Report by Bill. Second by Nathaniel. Carried.
7. Pastor’s Report: updates by Pastor Chris on Sharon Simpson’s Funeral, The possibility of six confirmands for conformation, and a Bible over a year program for next year.

9. Old Business
   1. Safety Plan: safety team meeting will be held in the future.
   2. 2026 Calendar items:
      1. Copy Machine lease renewal-October 2026: motion to switch to Rhyme for $304.99 a month with a $750 check back cut by Betty Jane. Second by Bill. Carried.
      2. Quickbooks Software Renewal-October 2026: Motion to approve $180 annually for quickbooks to replace the current quickbook software of $1500.
   3. Endowment Fund: waiting for update from Jerry Luther.
   4. Staff handbook: Pastor is working on it.
   5. Parsonage Roof Inspection: discussion, Miles will ask property and cemetery team to inspect it.
   6. Parking lot project: still awaiting road work completion
   7. Church basement: shrubs to be removed in 2027
10. New Business
    1. Homecoming after roadside complete: Special Sunday with potluck to be held. Jerry Luther and Sherry Wenzel will organize it.
    2. 2026 Christmas Cantata Proposal: motion to approve the budget for Christmas Cantata for 2026 by Betty Jane. Second by Bill. Carried.
    3. Miles to talk to Vern Dahlstorm to Rainbow House donation.

    1. Approval of Secretary’s Report for publication: motion to approve by Betty Jane. Second by Bill. Carried.

    1. Pastor will be talking with stewardship and evangelical team.
