CYF Director Report: August 2024

Past Events:

• VBS went fantastic! We couldn’t have done it without the support of our church family and we are so grateful! There will be a VBS recap meeting on August 25 to fine tune our VBS approach for next year.

Events in the Planning Stage:

• Gillett School Summer Splash is on the last Wednesday of August and we have planned for our table at this event.

• Sunday School is starting up and we are continuing with our 2-team approach so our teachers don’t get burnt out. It worked really well last year so we’re doing it again. We will be setting a regular schedule for Sunday School so both teams can follow it and it becomes a routine and both teams feels the same for all the students.

• Gillett’s First Day of School is on Tuesday, September 3 and our team will be cheering them on!

• Family S’mores Night is scheduled for Saturday, September 7 from 6-8om.

• Rally Day is Sunday, September 8 at 8:30am.

• The 5th Sunday in September will be youth led. 

Ideas for the Future:

• We are discussing other ways to fundraise to support our team. We are fortunate to have many people offer their Thrivent Action Teams but we also wish to fundraise. We already host a few dinners throughout the year (Annual Meeting Meal, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, etc.) but we are looking into ways to fundraise that would bring in people from the greater Gillett area as well.
